As part of serving on the Advisory Board(s) and as a consultant for LSTech.org and the National Technology Assistance Project, we built an RSS/RDF feed aggregrator (at rss.lstech.org) that:

• Allows users to define their own feeds using keywords and specific criteria,
• Creates valid RSS .9, .91, and 1.0 feeds on-the-fly,
• Uses the modular namespaces afforded by RSS 1.0 to syndicate Legal Services specific meta-data,
• And is database-backed and self-maintaining.

Once again we enlisted mod_perl for it's speed and the fact it has the mighty CPAN behind it.

This aggregrator will become very useful for legal services advocates as more and more desktop email programs support direct RSS integration: advocates will be able to define exactly the news they want to see related to legal aid around the country.
