The GeekUprising Manifesto

We believe:
- That simple, functional sites are the backbone of the internet, and that bells and whistles that keep surfers from the information they seek without adding real value are barriers to be removed,
- It's possible to make sites that work for 99.9% of surfers, without having to resort to proprietary technologies and incompatible systems,
- That time-tested tools are better than hype,
- That open-source solutions, tested by thousands of developers and used in mission-critical applications, are better than closed-source "veil of secrecy" solutions,
- That the tools used should fit the application, and you shouldn't be sold more than you need. We believe that for many developers the old adage "when all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail" holds true,
- And that people and ideas drive technology, not the other way around.
More on our development philosophy.
